Green, without the mine

In nature, a green diamond owes its colour to millions of years of irradiation inside the rock. The Dresden Green, 41 carats, is the only one of its size ever found. It sits in a museum.

Ours is worn. Grown in a laboratory, never mined, it reaches the same saturation and the same hardness of 10.

Green diamond or emerald: it comes down to hardness

An emerald tops out at 7.5 on the Mohs scale, with natural inclusions that weaken it. It splits on the first knock and has to come off before you do the dishes.

A green diamond sits at 10. It is the hardest material there is. You put it on in the morning and forget about it.

The two greens are not the same green either. An emerald is cold, loaded, almost opaque. A green diamond is lighter, shot through with light. It does not hold the colour in, it throws it out.
